Ingelow, Jean
   Born at Boston, Lincolnshire, daughter of a banker of Scottish origin, she was educated at home. Her early life was spent in Lincolnshire and in the fen district of Suffolk-apparent in her poetry-and in 1863 she moved to London, where she spent the rest of her life. There she was acquainted with most of the poets, painters, and writers of her time. She died at Kensington and was buried at Brompton cemetery. Her compilation of short stories, The Studies for Stories, was published in 1864. Between Stories told to a Child in 1865 and 1871 she wrote numerous other children's stories. One of her novels, Off the Skelligs, was published in four volumes in 1872. Some of her poetry publications: A Rhyming Chronicle of Incidents and Feelings, 1850. Poems, 1863, 1876, 1885. Mopsa, the Fairy, 1869.
